ST VINCENT'S CHURCH, PETALUMA CA
SACRED PLACES DECORATIVE PAINTING

Newman was commissioned to create color washes, faux marble and stone for the exterior and interior of St. Vincent's. The photographs above show elements of the decorative relief glazing, gold leaf and faux marble for the exterior and interior. Also created were faux stone on the Nave's arches, faux marble on the 12' columns (10 total). Newman restored the 3-Dimentional 14 Stations of the Cross and faux stone surrounding the four St's niches. The capitals of each of the columns were color washed and accented with gold leafing. The turn of the Century Baptismal Font, which was originally a white plaster piece, was turned into inlays of faux marble and stone with gold leafing accents.
Newman's specialty treatments won First Prize from the National Painters and Decorators Association in partnership with Spurgeon Painting Company that prepared all the surfaces .
